Statement of Work
Time-and-materials suits work whose shape is unknown. Where the outcome can be defined, a statement of work transfers delivery risk to us and gives you a fixed commitment — which is often also what procurement policy prefers.
We scope carefully because we carry the risk. That means a discovery phase for anything substantial, and a willingness to say when a fixed price is not appropriate.
Platforms we typically deliver this on
Scope of the service
Scoping and estimation
Structured discovery producing deliverables, assumptions, dependencies and acceptance criteria.
Fixed-price delivery
Milestone-based delivery with payment on acceptance.
Managed delivery teams
A complete team under our management, accountable for the outcome rather than reporting into yours.
Governance and reporting
Agreed reporting cadence, risk and issue management, and change control that is used rather than ignored.
Acceptance and handover
Testing against agreed criteria, documentation, knowledge transfer and warranty.
Public sector procurement
Familiarity with public-sector SOW structures and supply arrangements in Canada.
Where this is used
Representative engagements, described at the level our clients permit. Sector and shape are accurate; identifying detail is withheld.
Fixed-price delivery under a supply agreement
Procurement policy required outcome-based engagement. We scoped through discovery, then delivered against milestones with acceptance at each.
Outcome — Delivery risk carried by the supplier, as the policy intended.
An integration project with a hard deadline
An integration had to be live for a term start. Fixed scope, fixed date, with contingency owned by us.
Outcome — Deadline met with schedule risk sitting on our side of the contract.
A discovery phase before committing
The client wanted fixed price but the requirement was not stable enough. We ran a paid discovery, then priced the build.
Outcome — A fixed price that reflected the real requirement rather than a guess.
Before you get in touch
When is SOW better than contract staffing?
When the outcome is definable and you want the delivery risk transferred. For open-ended or exploratory work, contract resourcing is usually more honest and cheaper.
How do you handle scope change?
Written change control with cost and schedule impact assessed before agreement. We do not absorb scope silently and then argue about it later.
Can an SOW follow an assessment?
That is the common path — an assessment defines the work well enough for us to price it with confidence.
Often engaged alongside this
Contract Staffing
Contract technology professionals for defined periods — screened, compliant, and supported through the engagement rather than placed and forgotten.
