Migrations proven by reconciliation, not by optimism

Moving data between platforms with the testing that lets you sign off — row counts, control totals, business-rule validation and a documented rollback.

Data & Analytics

Data Migration & Integration

Migration risk is concentrated in the things nobody wrote down: the sixteen-year-old transformation embedded in a stored procedure, the downstream extract that a regulator depends on, the encoding assumption that only breaks on certain records.

We find those before cutover through profiling, dependency analysis and reconciliation testing at every stage, and we always have a tested way back.

What we do

Scope of the service

Discovery and profiling

Source profiling, dependency mapping and the inventory of downstream consumers that determines the real scope.

Migration design

Approach, sequencing, cutover windows, rollback and the reconciliation strategy, agreed before any data moves.

Database platform migration

Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and MongoDB migrations including schema conversion and stored logic translation.

Cloud migration

On-premises to cloud moves with residency, network and licensing handled as first-class constraints.

Integration engineering

APIs, event streams and file interfaces between ERP, CRM, analytics and line-of-business systems.

Reconciliation and sign-off

Automated comparison at row, control-total and business-rule level, with an evidence pack for approval.

Use cases

Where this is used

Representative engagements, described at the level our clients permit. Sector and shape are accurate; identifying detail is withheld.

Public sector

Migrating a records system with statutory retention

A case management database had statutory retention and audit obligations. We migrated with full lineage, preserved audit history and produced an evidence pack for the records authority.

Outcome — Migration completed with retention and audit obligations demonstrably intact.

Financial services

Oracle to PostgreSQL to reduce licensing exposure

We converted schema and stored logic, rewrote incompatible constructs, and ran the platforms in parallel with automated result comparison before cutover.

Outcome — Licensing exposure reduced with behaviour proven equivalent before switching.

Higher education

Integrating a new system with the student record

A new platform needed bidirectional integration with the student information system. We built an event-based interface with replay, idempotency and reconciliation reporting.

Outcome — Systems kept in step without nightly full-file overwrites.

Questions we are asked

Before you get in touch

How do you handle downtime?

Most migrations run with change data capture keeping the target current, so the cutover window is minutes. Where a full outage is unavoidable we rehearse it until the timing is known.

What if reconciliation fails?

We do not cut over. Discrepancies are investigated and either corrected or explained and accepted in writing before sign-off.

Can you migrate data we do not understand any more?

That is the usual case. Profiling and dependency analysis reconstruct the picture, and undocumented logic gets documented as part of the work.
